IP Investments Group entity, DataCloud Technologies, networking patent found invalid

On September 24, 2025, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) entered a notice of intent to issue a reexamination certificate cancelling all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 8,370,457, owned by DataCloud Technologies, LLC, an NPE and an IP Investments Group entity. The ’457 patent relates to network communication through a virtual domain. It had been asserted in over 20 district court litigations, including against SonicWall, Zscaler, and Palo Alto Networks.

Lexidine vehicle camera patent challenge instituted

On September 29, 2025, six weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 7,609,961, owned and asserted by Lexidine LLC, an NPE. The ‘961 patent relates to integrating a camera into a vehicle light. It is currently being asserted against Ford.

The patent has been asserted against Hyundai.
