AutoNavigare in-vehicle app control patent challenge instituted

On March 27, 2025, two months after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 9,288,665, owned and asserted by AutoNavigare, LLC. The ‘665 patent relates to controlling applications on a mobile device, such as a mobile phone, using an in-vehicle control system. It is currently being asserted against Toyota.

Unified is pleased to announce PATROLL crowdsourcing contest winners, Dinesh Swami, Andrei Gilya, and Calvin Zhong, who split a cash prize of $2,000 for their prior art submissions on U.S. Patent 9,632,676, asserted by Dynamic Data Innovations LLC, an NPE and entity of Empire IP LLC. The ‘643 patent relates to systems and methods for management of object datasets and for rending instructions to dynamically update a graphical user interface (GUI) to present a subset of the object dataset. It has been asserted against Old Navy and TravisMathew, LLC.
