Jeffrey M. Gross entity Compression Vectors video codec patent successfully challenged

On February 21, 2023, the USPTO issued a final rejection of all challenged claims at issue of U.S. Patent 6,731,813. The patent is owned and asserted by Compression Vectors LLC, an NPE and entity of Jeffrey M. Gross. The '813 patent relates to adjusting frame intervals during compression of a video signal and was previously asserted against Axis Communications AB, Cisco, Hanwha Corp., and Intel. This filing is part of Unified's ongoing efforts in its SEP Video Codec Zone. The decision came down less than a year after it was filed.

Acacia entity Atlas Global Technologies Wi-Fi patent reexam granted

On March 16, 2023, less than three weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the USPTO granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 10,153,886, owned and asserted by Atlas Global Technologies, LLC, an NPE and Acacia Research entity. The ‘886 patent is generally directed to an uplink transmission scheme for acknowledgements to reduce or eliminate redundant acknowledgements and is asserted against a Wi-Fi standard, 802.11ax. The patent has been asserted against ASUS, Arcadyan, Acer, D-Link, OnePlus, and Zyxel.

Buffalo Patents teleconferencing patent challenged

On March 14, 2023, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 6,839,417, owned and asserted by Buffalo Patents, LLC. The ’417 patent is directed to initiating, joining, managing, and participating in conference calls. The patent has or is been asserted against Discord, Spotify, LogMeIn, and RingCentral.

Joseph Yoon airbag sensor patent held invalid

On March 2, 2023, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) issued a final written decision in Unified Patents, LLC v. Joseph Y. Yoon Intellectual Property LLC holding all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 9,376,076 unpatentable. Owned and asserted by Joseph Y. Yoon IP LLC, the '076 patent is generally directed to airbag deployment technology and was asserted against Toyota.

Optis Wireless 4G/LTE patent challenged

On February 28, 2023, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 9,137,830, owned and asserted by Optis Wireless Technology, LLC, an NPE and Brevet Capital entity. The ‘830 patent is generally directed to reducing collision while reporting control information in radio communications between a mobile station (i.e., any user equipment capable of performing radio transmission) and a base station. This filing is a part of Unified’s 3GPP Zone.
