Dynamic IP Deals subsidiary, AuthWallet, patent challenged

On July 23, 2021, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 9,292,852, owned by AuthWallet, LLC, an NPE and subsidiary of Dynamic IP Deals. The '852 generally relates to transaction processing services. It is currently being asserted against CitiGroup, Square, and American Express.

PacSec3 '564 patent challenged

On August 3, 2021, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination against U.S. Patent 7,047,564, owned by PacSec3, an NPE. PacSec3 was formed in 2020 with NACAR IP LLC as its managing member. NACAR IP was also formed in early 2020 with Dynamic IP Deals, LLC (d/b/a DynaIP), a patent monetization company, identified as its managing member. The ‘564 patent has been asserted against F5 Networks, NetScout Systems, Palo Alto Networks, McAfee, Cisco, Juniper Networks, and Watchguard Technologies.

EPO Opposition filed against Dolby patent

On August 6, 2021, Unified filed an opposition proceeding against EP 3678097 B1, currently owned by Dolby International AB. EP ‘097 is related to patents owned by InterDigital and designated essential to SISVEL’s AV1 patent pool. EP ‘097 is also related to patents designated essential in the HEVC Advance list. This filing is a part of Unified’s ongoing efforts in its SEP Video Codec Zone.

EPO challenge filed against another ETRI patent

On July 27, 2021, Unified Patents filed an opposition in the EPO against EP 3448036. The EP ‘036 patent is owned by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). The patent is part of a large family with related patents designated as essential to the H.265 and AV1 standards by HEVC Advance and SISVEL, respectively. It is also related to U.S. Patent 9,781,448 against which Unified has filed an IPR in April 2021.

WSOU '770 patent challenged

On July 2, 2021, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 7,333,770, formerly owned by Alcatel-Lucent USA, Inc. (Nokia Corporation) but now owned by WSOU Investments, LLC. The ‘770 patent is generally related to broadcasting data in a telecommunications system and is being asserted against TP-Link Technology Co.
